Oh and for the record......I would be a "mail order tune" guy myself, but I have a buddy here in town who did mine for free. LOL Not sure how good it is, but I haven't had any trouble and he's been tuning his own for over 5 years.....bracket races every weekend and does well. Hasn't lost an engine yet either. LOL

No they don't do the same thing. The 6al-2 programmable has more features you would use if it was in a drag car, like you say you want. Really, just like 96capricemgr stated, you want a bunch of blind affirmation and compliments. Go ahead and post a complete breakdown of the parts cost of the 24x and 6010 setup...

What feature does the 6al-2 have that the 6010 doesnt have they are the same boxes. and as far as price goes here is your break down buddy.

efi connections 24x base kit(for lt1)-$525
timing chain cover(for me as my car as the kit is for 96-97)-$100 maybe??
msd 6010 modified by efi connections for the coil swap on the lt1 vs the ls1-$375( guess they have messed with these boxes before as he knew exactly what i needed)
victor jr(mods to lt1 not sure havent made it that far).- $250

and whatever carb and regulator i want to run. so right there im at 1250 then figure $100 for a set of coil packs off flebay. like ive stated this would be a straight forward swap and if you talk to the guys at efi they make it sound alot easier as well.

previous owner stated the car had been 12.0s with the six speed and the 3rd gear syncros are going out. i personally took the car to the track with some bs 275/60/15 street tires and it went 13.02@110 with a 2.1 60'. I only got one pass and it started raining so im sure its got aleast some low 12's high 11's with the th350 swap and some drag radials

Now there's an idea... put a TH350 w/brake in it and ride. Screw the conversion crap.

the 6530 box has a 3 step, and will let you run a time-based, ramped retard curve. The 6010 doesn't have those features.

Better include the price of coil brackets and coil pigtails in your price breakdown as well

Although this may work, and from experience with doing this different than what others do I think the amount of work involved, costs associated just looking at what has been posted here which by the way does not include carb or modding an intake and any other unforseen misc items like coil mounts and where your going to mount all this I would put the cost at double of what you initially expect to be safe. In reading your posts it appears that you have already made your mind up and sometimes talking with these companies about doing these type of projects they really only tell you what you want to hear. The primary advantage of using the EFI Connection setup is LSX ECM for more tuning options. On another note as for tuning thes cars, one of the best tuners out there Bryan@pcmforless.com is a mail order tuner and for very reasonable money and a very quick turn around time. In speaking with an experienced LT1 performance engine builder he only uses Brian and says he has not had one issue with his tunes and all have been dead on. I would also like to add that in this conversion when done no one in there right mind would ever buy your car seeing the massive nightmarish view under your hood and trying to figure things out. Good luck on your project.

Of course you will, with your carb making more power than your junk PCM.

Neither did I, however you seem to be convinced its not going to work for your car.

It is old, the CC306 has been around a looooooooooong time and there are plenty of "mail orders" that will have you set-up pretty well.

And..my car doesnt run, its a shitbox.

and thats fine i dont understand the big deal its one thing to discuss a point its a complete other thing to argue a point because you feel its better. thats my only point there has already been a few people post on here that thought that it was good information. so yeah maybe the combination is old and there is a million people that could tune it, i just got the car set up like it is so im trying to work with what i got. apparently you have a much high budget than my self with a 398" stocker going in your car. if i may ask what type of set up are you going to run. this isnt even about the carb vs efi im more looking at something that i can grow in to if i do try to do a build like yours. so educate me sir.

In this very thread there's a link to a site that gives answers to the questions you actually ask. Use that link.

Seriously though. The guy specifically said he doesn't want a mail order tune. Why do you guys keep telling him to get one?

I understand that you think it's better suited for him and that it will more than likely work better or just as good with his setup, but he said he doesn't want that.

That's like me shopping for a car and I don't want a red one. I tell you that specifically. Yet you keep pushing a red car, after repeatedly being told that it's not what I want.

Why do you keep doing it?
