Default What valve spring should i get?

Is Patriot Gold ok? or PAC 1218? or maybe suggest me another spring to use.

I will be running:
-Comp Cams Pro Magnum NSA 1.6RR's with a 7/16" stud (guide plates, harden pushrod ect..)
-Stock Cam

Future plan will be Ai 230 / 238, will i end up having to buy springs twice?

I'm using VS2700 from bullet racing and I did have 1 break, but that was due to improper installation. So far though everything else is good since I redid everything. And the springs use stock keepers and retainers. I haven't revved past 5800 yet though because I haven't tuned it yet. But my tune is coming in the mail tomorrow afternoon. So I'll repost after revving to about 6500 and let you know if my engine is still in one piece. Lol.

I have 1.6rr's with a CC503 grind.

pac 1218 should be good, or 1518 would be better. im running a solid roller lobe and .610+ lift on 1518s. turns 7k no problem but i have them set up tight.... .030 from coilbind set speing by spring. it took alot of time but well worth it.

On a stock cam with 1.6s I would do LT4 springs and then buy springs with the later cam upgrade.

You cant go wrong with PAC or Patriots . Both great quality springs . Stay away from Comp 918's though .

Yall's responses are appreciated, still trying to narrow things down. Don't want to swap springs twice, but if that will save me from future problems might have too.

On another note, whats max lift on stock cam with 1.6RR?
Is some of the springs mentioned in this thread too much pressure for stock cam?

http://www.byunspeed.com/product_inf...oducts_id=7039

comes with everything youd need. except a valve spring compressor. you can get a "tims tool" or for $100 you can get the crane setup that is also sold at byunspeed.

i dont think youll have any such problems running those springs with a stock cam.

I got ridiculed for running patriot extremes on an AFTERMARKET high lift cam because they were overkill on this website. Can't believe they are telling you to run it on a stock cam now.

Stock heads? No point in going over .600 total lift. Of course somebody is going to argue with me.

No point in running overkill springs with just 1.6 rockers. All you would be doing is putting wear on them before you put in the cam, and they would probably end up costing you a couple hp too. A spring change takes 1 hour tops it's not that big of a deal.

Even though they tell me I'm wrong on everything I am on this side 100%.

Just tested out a 6600 rpm shift and worked great! Multiple runs shifted at 6500 and no problems...

with heads off, measuring installed height, replacing seals, installing springs using tim's valve tool, I think it took about 2-3 hours. I was taking my time. patriot golds here.

The reason a few are saying run LT4 springs now and buy better springs later is because the LT4s are cheap and about perfect for 1.6s on a stock cam. You buy a more serious spring now and one you will be putting wear and tear on it, and in a performance application valve springs are a wear item. Second, plans change and maybe your cam choice will change or a better spring will come along by the time you are ready for that.

Far as stiff springs on a stock cam, it would probably handle it better than the cast cams a lot of guys swap in.
