Automatics tend to hold up the rear end better than manuals, full bolt ons shouldn't be a problem if it's been maintained.

Also depends on driving habits.

And you already got posi trac, son! (for some reason this reminded me of joe dirt? )

Sounds like it's worn out. Different people like different types of LSD (limited slip differential, not the drug). When I have to dig into the rear of my truck, I plan on using a TruTrac, but some don't like it.

Yeah the clutches in the diff are shot. Time for a new diff.

I have the Trutrac but its in a 9" rear. No problems with it.

I just removed my worn out clutch type carrier and installed a torsen carrier out of a 98-02 f-body. No clutches to wear out.

They just have a weak case that's known for cracking.

Nope the stock posi is an Auburn and it's not rebuildable. Yukon offers a really nice posi that is supposed to be identical to an Eaton but cheaper. I would suggest one of those two. Or an Auburn Pro.

You can use your same gears, but you need to buy the correct series carrier (posi unit). If you have lower than 323 you have a 2 series, 323 and higher you have a 3 series. If you are going to replace the posi you should upgrade the gears while you are in there, they won't charge you any extra to do it. 373's will give you a real nice gain without sacrificing too much top end. So if you decide to buy 373 gears, you will want to buy a 3 series carrier to fit them.

Don't forget the added expense of having your speedometer recalibrated.

its worn out then. i would rebuild it with some higher gears if it fits your motor and daily use.

Yes I know all about that, but with my auto car and only 328rwhp I hope it will hold. I just wanted a quick and easy fix, later on if this thing blows apart I will get a 12 bolt. I think it is the best way to go on a Bolton car with a worn auburn; its cheap and easy to install. Only paid $100 plus oil and gasket.
