K, just got off the phone with my friend at the dealer and this is what he told me. They can still look it up using the vin, they'll need to see a copy of the title and the driver's license of the owner matching the name on the title. It's $8 retail for a door key, $28 retail for the chipped ignition key, and a $15 fee to look it up by the vin. so just over $50 plus tax. to get in and drive it away. the only issue you might have with this is if the ignition cylinder has been changed. But I'd definitely try it this way before I tried changing the cylinder.
