Blown Head gasket i have a 1995 Z28 with 92,000 i have just found out my head gasket blew if i can get some help on how much it cost to replace it. i don't want to get rid of the car cause i really like it if u can help me with my problem that would be great
depends on the shop, could be a couple hundred to 1k+, it's up to them if they decide to pull the motor from underneath the car or leave the motor in and work from the top

I don't know what it would cost but the biggest problem would be finding someone to do it right.I would just do it yourself.That is not a hard job on these cars and no one will do the job better than you if you have the know how.

my problem i don't care that much on how long. that is a factor but the big problem is how much money are we talking to get it fixed at a shop? i usally do it my self but when u have to start pulling the engine parts out like internal i don't have the time
If you aren't comfortable working on these cars I would say it's a full weekend job. Removing everything is easy - it's the reassembly that can be tricky. If you're competent with LT1s you could definitely do it in one day. The problem you will run into is when you take off the heads. You will need to take them to a shop to have them checked for straightness, and if they need to be milled at all, that will take some additional time, so you'll have to consider that as well.
Compared to some of the other engines I have worked on. LT1's are not all that bad once you know where stuff is. If you blew the gasket out, the head needs to be checked so it may take more then a day as generally your waiting on a machine shop. IF the springs are original, have them put a new set on, maybe something with some more seat pressure if you ever decided to go to a 1.6RR or even just a cam upgrade.
It is wise to pull both and if one needs to be cut good, its best to get them done both at the same time, also you know the gaskets are fresh.
As for exhaust gaskets, LS1's are reuseable, LT1's IMO suck bad, I have done every type of meterial and every different sequence of tightening, and they all still leak to a degree so just be aware of that.
As for someone else doing the job, call out for some quote for local, competent shops. I would expect they hit you for at least 10 hours of flat rate, not including, parts, shop meterials, waste disposal, and applicable taxes.

I done one last year and it wasn't too bad. I worked on it about an hour every evening till the weekend and finished it up. I work a full time job so I only worked on the car when I felt like it.
I was surprised that I could get to all of the head bolts with a torque wrench but they weren't a problem.

yep you can do it yourself......once you learn your way around the car its not that bad at all......we've switched mine in 3 hours before the night before race day.......we can help you out with the info you need to get it done.....toughest part is possibly frozen bolts on manifolds and brackets...etc...
