If you only replaced the cap and rotor and not the entire optispark (which includes the optical sensor) you won't fix the problem, if it was the optispark at all.

You replaced the cap & rotor only? How did the opti look inside? You won't always see anything wrong with the wheel and resolution sensor if there is a problem with the electronic component. If you only did cap & rotor, you'll unfortunately need to replace the distributor itself. GM (Delphi) is the most preferred unit- you could also try one from Chandler Motorsports (around $140.00 vs. $360.00 for the Delphi). I also put a little red Loc-Tite on the 2 screws that hold the rotor in place. Sometimes they come loose and that's usually pretty destructrive.

might need one of these:

http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonn...spx?ItemId=865

connects from the opti up the passenger side to about 1/2 way back on the intake. carries hi and lo res signals to the PCM so it can command spark timing appropriately. these connectors get chewed up, dirty, corroded, etc.
