Default Okay, waterpump drive seal... wtf

after doing it twice...tried the whole boil it in water putting it on a socket and sliding it on, seemed like it would work. But, yet again it leaks! this is the last leak i need to fix and its going all over my brand new opti... whats the trick?

going nuts here trying to figure out the whole sliding it on thing, and cant figure out how the sharpie pen cap would work... someone please tell me in a somewhat detailed way to install it. I am losing my mind!

get a magic marker and use the black top on it... don't force it on there then but the opening on the shaft and slip the seal on there... on the impala fourm some one has a write up on this

The trick is to really watch the seal as you work it. There are actually 2 lips to it one that points in and one out. It is leaking because as you slid it on the inner one flipped and is pointing out inside the outer seal.

Once you get it slid over a pen cap, socket or whatever properly then you can work it on the shaft.

Okay I get the idea now... I think the socket I used was too thick. Ac delco 3/8drive 1/2 deepwell. What kind if marker shall I use? My sharpie cap seems too small to orient it on right and I'm damn tried of this whole ordeal.

after a 40 dollar investment and a whole shitton of seals I was almost there... at least I know I can replace and opti in an hour without a jack or anything more than a few sockets and a hammer. road trips no longer scare me with the lt1. sort of
