Default 0 oil pressure

My car is registering 0 oil presure. I thought it might have been the sensor but it started making a funny sound. I think it might be the oil pick up. What do you guys think?

A "funny sound" and 0 oil pressure usually means you've spun a bearing. Time for a rebuild.

Last time that happen to my car the oil pump drive gear sheared off where it meets the cam.....

Could be a spun bearing....
Could be a fallen pick up
Could be a failed oil pump...
could be a broken coupler on the oil pump shaft...

regardless if you have ran it enough to start hearing noise you will pro need a rebuild....mine didn't make any noise and I still got scaring on some of my main bearings...

Matt

Sounds like a spun bearing. FTR if the pump pickup falls off and the oil is at full capacity, you will still have normal pressure.

The easy way to test whether or no the pick up is on. Jack the front end up and smack the bottom of the pan with a mallet. If the pickup is off, you will hear it bounce during the mallet test.

Yeah, the oil pickup tube fell off on my 95 z and it still had oil pressure. Lost pressure on heavy braking though.

Let me clarify.
This is true if sitting still. However on hard accelaration or moderate to heavy braking, the pressure WILL drop.

Could you be more clear about what the "funny" sound is? Is it a grinding metal on metal noise? knocking? or does it just make you laugh? Describe funny.
