I am an *******, thanks for the compliment.

"Gasket matching" and "a little porting and polishing" are bad ideas whether its you doing it yourself, or a local machine shop etc, etc.

My point is you can easily waste $300 on a "light clean up" and end up with fucked up heads that are worse than stock.

Either leave them alone or send them to a reputable shop.

and if you dont want opinions, dont ******* ask. I say it like I see it, you might not like the presentation but what I said is the truth.

Go ahead with your original plan and run 13's at the track, or take some advice and have an impressive running car. Up to you.

Run 13's at the Track now with a stock motor now so I'm not quite sure where you are going with that

I'm new to the LT1 im sure you were born knowing everything about everything right? I'm young looking for advice. And to have someone like you rattle off these things. Im pretty sure there has been people that run THAT cam and run what im looking to run. And people that did something to there heads at a local shop and ran what i wanted to run. As i stated I don't want the fastest car I want a nice Street car that will run low-mid 12's.

But now that thats all over what would you suggest. I'm all ears what should I do. (like i said im here to learn)

Then you DO NOT want the cc306 cam, period, and you dont need a 355, and you dont need to touch the heads.

Your goals are acheiveable with bolt ons, if you take the time to dial it in.

For cam, my car would trap 115+ with some decent air, and it is what most would call a very small cam. That's plenty for 11's.

My suggestion, do all the bolt ons you can and take the time to get the car to hook and leave the hole hard, then do a cam swap with quality components with a cam that will meet your goals and still be fun on the street.

TORQUE is what makes a street car fun. Responsiveness, etc. My car has an awesome powerband, starts pulling very low and doesn't quit til I shift at 6300ish.

FWIW

Well the 355 is going to be given to me so I'm not going to turn down the 4 bolt 355.

so I mean while I'm getting the short block why not build it is my look on it. I have the LTs the Cai the gears so the stall and some suspension and I would have full bolt ons.

Just looking into what cam to get really once I do that seems like the stock heads will fit what im wanting to get.

I like the smaller XFI cams. I have done two custom grinds, mine performs exceptionally well with bone stock heads, the other on a LE2 setup did 411hp, gobs of tq, and pulls to the moon. His is a 218/224. Comps cams come out a little big if you get a full ADCOLE report on them so it came out to a 220 226. Mine came out +2 degrees on the durations and LSA as well.

Anyway, if you want a shelf cam, I would recommend the XFI 466. AI or LE could set you up with a nice bullet cam as well. If you plan to do heads down the road, you could go with something like the bullet 226/234

Well the Air force is going to slow down any huge price build until I get through BMT.

But yeah that will be in the far and distant future. the more i read the more it seems like I would want to stay with more or less stock heads with the addition of new spring and 1.6's whats your take on the CC503 then?

I like it. If I ran a CC503 I would do it with 1.7 rockers.

Alright that looks like what it is going to be then everyone seems to like there CC503
Plus around here the LT1 is non existent nothing but LS1's at the track so won't be like someone elses car around here. Haven't heard much about the 1.7 rockers on the CC503 though how much more lift does that add?

FWIW I made 351rwhp/355rwtq (through a T56) with the CC503. I also had all the bolt-ons, EWP, 1.6RRs, headers, ORY, etc...

I loved the 503, it was a great street camshaft.
