Single Plane intake which elbow do I use?
Hey guys I just brought RamAir's single plane conversion intake and I need to know which elbow is the best to use with the 58mm tb I have, I'm leaning toward the Nitrous outlet elbow but I wanted to get opinions from guys who have single plane intake conversions. Also can you guys post pics of your setups, thanks.

If you can find a more traditional elbow like the intakeelbows.com elbows they will outflow it, but with a tall single plane you will need an aftermarket hood and/or trim the cowl.
Stay away from "low profile" garbage intakes like Edlebrock makes...some manage to even leave the throttle body UNDER the intake flange .
Ideally you would run a 4bbl TB with a carb hat, but that takes a lot more work to make work and is more expensive. I may do a back-to-back test comparing an intakeelbows.com elbow w/ AS&M 58mm to a 4bbl TB/hat setup, but that will be a long time from now since the new motor isn't even in the car yet...
Note that any gains from a 4bbl setup won't be from more air - in fact, most flow less then an LTx style dual 58mm. Any benefit would be from the straight shot of air and not running an elbow.

Like I said earlier, most actually flow LESS then a quality dual 58mm LTX TB...but in certain situations you may benefit from the straighter shot of air.
I haven't seen enough back to back testing to see how much hp and how many RPMs you need to spin for it to be worth it, but for most people I would say its a waste of money.
FFB recently did the conversion but doesn't have much hard data yet...

i was speaking about single planes in general. I've been talking to a local super stocker who's been doing LT1s for the last 15 years. He says he has yet to see a single plane produce anything but marginally improved track times over a properly done LTx manifold. If we had the hood/cowl clearance to get some plenum volume (spacers) then they would show better gains. I believe Joe Overton said he once stacked 6" worth of spacers and the car kept picking up. I think a 4500 manifold with cloverleaf and plenum mods would be the ticket, but then you're stuck paying for an EFI conversion + 600 bucks in porting.

I brought the Nitrous Outlet 860 elbow and it's great, now I need to find out how all of you guys with single plane conversions setup your vacuum ports and map sensors with the single plane setup?
My thought was to get a vacuum block like the turbo guys use but I still need a way to hook up the map.

If you want it closer you could probably make a super simple bracket coming off of a fuel rail bolt.
I've got some nice clear pic's of the double welded 860 Elbow that i sold a while back(Pictured in my first post). It is 4" high from flange to top and leaves the TB fairly close to its stock location. Great for people who want a simpler switch to a single plane.

Has anyone done a single plane/LS style throttle body? That was my plan, but I haven't seen it done. I was planning on getting the 24x kit and using the LSx throttle body and the vic e intake. I'd also probably use an LS style MAF but I haven't really looked into everything yet, I'm completely redoing my suspension this winter and am planning on building a new motor next summer and installing it next winter if my job situation goes to plan
Otherwise the 860 + vic E + 58mm TB would be my second choice.
