Anyone street drive a Spec 4 Clutch?
i've got to do something. I street/strip the bird so i need at least a Spec 3 but frankly the Spec 4 is a lot cheaper. I'm a Spec fan after beating the tar out of my current Spec 3 for 7 years!
also, in those choices, 4 Puck or 6 Puck?
thoughts?
(yes, i did search first)
thanks!

I drive a spec 4, 6 puck springless disc. It was a little chattery at first but easy enough to get use to how to leave the stop signs. I don't drive on the street all that much anymore, but I will only use a spec 4 disc til the end of time, great clutch disc.

Yep, I LOVE that yellow pontiac. I remember when (I think) HP Pontiac got that as a New car project. Factory a/c delete correct? It is why I'm in what I'm in.

Not a stage 4 but I did just finish up the install of my Spec stage 5, solid hub, sintered disk setup. Have not had it to the track yet but a quick test drive around the block and it chatters MUCH less than my old stage 3, sprung hub, 4 puck. I don't really know if they even have the 4 puck design anymore since they came out with the 6 puck.
I don't recommend a stg 5 for street just stating that chatter was less than my old stg 3.

If price is a big factor, then I'm not gonna be much help. But here goes anyways....I have a SPEC 3+, and I love it so far. Fairly smooth engagement, very drivable stoplight to stoplight, and grabs like crazy everytime I almost went with the SPEC 4 over the 3+ because it was so much less $, but I don't regret my decision at all, I've been very happy with the 3+

Perhaps your friend was doing it wrong. The only chatter I encountered was in reverse if the clutch was slipped too much. Other than that it was fine in all forward gears as long as it was engaged quickly. There's a technique to everything. Because of its aggressiveness it cannot be slipped like a regular clutch.

I totally understand, I had a hard time justifying the extra $$$ also. But in the end if figured with amount of money I've spent on this car, another $200 isn't that much in comparison. And street manners were high priority because it spends alot more time on the street than the track.

As far as the 3 vs 4 goes. I feel like a cement truck driver when I drive an LS1 compared to my spec 3. I like my spec 3, but I sat in DC traffic for a couple hours and it was killing my leg. What color is the PP on your spec 3? I picked one up for 350 new and it was a older style design, my new one is blue.

I have done it,6 puck no springs,Did not have any problems, other than the disc wore down to the rivets in about 5 thousand miles,if that.It was hard for me to feather,it was either in or out,and it did suck in traffic, once it gets hot,its really in or out no other choice.Had to leave space between me and the car in front of me to avoid hitting them. How about the twin disc from Mcleod? good comprimise between street/strip with good pedal
