Default Low Oil Level Sensor

It looks like I am leaking oil at the low oil level sensor. The sensor itself is brand new.

Ive read that the connector can leak.

Couple of questions:
1.) Is this sensor usually sealed with some sort of adhesive?
2.) Could I just possibly replace the connector to fix the leak?
2a.) Anyone have a part number for the connector?

Thanks!

There should be a seal on the sensor.or if the seal is on it,could be you got a bad sensor.usually when oil starts coming out of where the connector plugs in the sensor is no good.

It is impossible for the connector to be the source of a leak.

Mine leaked from the inside of the connector. Might have been due to the fact that it was never plugged in but i bought an oil drain plug and that fixed it

The connector is not designed to retain oil. The sensor is not supposed to leak.

It should be an easy fix, as the "seal" is actually an o-ring. Simply put a new one in place, and tighten it carefully, making sure the ring stays in the groove. If it does leak at that point, yes, I would say that "anything's possible", and just maybe the part itself is seeping...

Do you know the torque spec by chance?

The old one was metal but the new one is plastic, so I am afraid to overtighten for fear of breaking it.

That's only possible if the sensor housing is cracked.

Thank you,

however i am actually looking for the connector piece (the one attached to the wiring harness) and not the sensor itself

Mine is plastic also. I used a crescent wrench, but obviously "snugged it up" very carefully. You just need to get a little bit of "crush" on the o-ring. Off hand, I'd say around 7-8 ft/lbs.....
