Hell, whatever the problem is, I would buy it for $1,000.00. Especially if it is a clean body. That's like crack-smoking prices. Hell, I'm driving to Indiana this weekend to look at a roller with everything except for the long block for $1,800.00, and I thought I was doing good. And for sure not a PCM issue, that's BS.

Ok well the car is mine, pics below, only problem is i really dont want to drive it due to the condition. The car is currently throwing a p0300 code, and something is wrong with the thermostat gauge. Car has 140,000 Miles, 1996 Manual z28, My question is my brother in-law mentioned he took the thermostat out for ahwile, then just recentely installed it again, he said something about a heat sensor frying which is why the temperature gauge on the car is above 260 and not moving. Can you guys help me out any? We went for a drive around the block and if you dont give it alot of gas while stopped at a light it will die. Thanks for any help!!!

No doubt about that, there a big *** chevy emblem on the top where the t-tops are, i just hope that the stupid stickers didnt mess up the paint to bad. Have any idea whats up with the temp gauge though, also the second time we started it, tons of white smoke came out of the pipes, is that a good indication the head gasket should be changed?

P0300= random misfire, so I would check all the plugs and wires, most likely a plug wire not on all the way/frayed cut arcing off of something, a broken plug, I would just do plugs n wires to start.

As far as the temp gauge, I do belive the sensor for that is on the drivers side head, and the temp gauge for the pcm is on the water pump.
A lot of good help and reading for us lt1's

Good luck with your new toy, good lookin car man and good job on stealing that car lol

Edit: I just saw your post about the white smoke, I would change the oil, if the head gaskets are bad, you'll have this nasty milkshake come out instead of oil. Does the car have a cat? Since I removed my cat, I have noticed that it will steam out the tail pipe if it is below about 60* or really raining out, I'm not entirely sure why though.

Thanks for the info, the car does not have a cat, the first time we started it and took it for a drive no smoke, second time the smoke was horrendous. ill try changing the oil when i get back to the car.

Hey, nice steal! x2 on heat gunning (carefully lol) those stickers off! It sounds like the sender wire to your temp gauge could be shorted to ground, causing the gauge to pin out...take a good look at the wire near the sender, could be laying on the exhaust. Considering the white smoke, I'd tackle the temp gauge first and foremost...important to know engine temp! Great score though, it's nice to see someone step in doodie every so often Good luck with it!

The wire near the sender, is this the connector to the temp sensor that your talking about?

it's this sender coming out of the block on the driver's side right behind the first primary. check to make sure it's connected and not melted to the headers.

since you have headers a plug and wire change won't be too hard. do that along with the oil change and go from there.
