Ya they are nuts asking 17.5 and not moving on that price. I think the SS and my car were right on target price wise.

The dealership I got my 94 from was asking 7600 for it with around 70k on it. I got it for $3k.

If I only have the money. That's a good price for such a low mileage LT1. Someone will be along looking for this one. Good luck.

That isnt a bad price. Look at the price of the new cars. And the car IS kind of rare. Like it or not.

I wouldn't pay that much for a car that would struggle against a v6 mustang.

I think it's well worth it, even in today's economy. It won't be for sale long.
I bought mine back in March with 80K miles on it. The good: Almost full bolt-ons, and I got it for not much than the price of full bolt-ons. Most are stuff I'd have spent money on anyway. The bad: Even though it only has 80K miles, they have been hard ones. The car hasn't been a garage queen, paint is faded, SS hood & airbox were missing, driver's seat is torn. It still runs great (except I just broke my clutch at 86K) so I'm pleased even though it looks like a POS next to this car. Whoever said it's not rare must have bumped their head...or is thinking of LS / SS's. They made alot more 98+ cars. My SS is one of 176 in sebring silver, M6 & T-tops. They built more of my 1961 BelAir bubbletops than 96 or 97 SS's. The value is only gonna go one way on cars like this. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Somebody would pay that much for it, but I personally would never spend more than KBB for an F-body, which in this case is $8k in excellent condition

Because there have been thousands of them made LT1 wise and far more LS1's. You go on autotrader and search for LT1 Camaros and you'll discover several for sale on the first page of the results (any distance).
You must understand the buyer is who decides how valuable a product is and as of right now a SS doesn't go for a lot more (if any at all) than a regular Z28.

you must understand that far more ls1 SS have been made than lT1 SS that is why they are "rare"....

Im no trying to argue I know to some people a f-body is just a f-body but to some people it is more... that is what makes them rare....

appx. 3000 LT1 SS were made in 97... how many are on the road today?

35 LT1 SS are for sale on autotrader (the most common used automotive market place) http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/search...=1291874934947

rare

5.

That's crap. That is not what makes them rare. Availability is what makes them rare. Not what you, the owner thinks.

You can always hope. You and others who are a little delusional may think they are "rare" but they aren't. I reckon everyone has their own opinion of what rare means, but when I go to autotrader and see multitudes of LT1 SS cars for sale, that's far from rare.
People have been saying that last line of yours for the last 15 years now and they've done nothing but depreciate. Maybe one day they will be. Probably when you and I are on life support...

Rarity is also a perception, and value is only there if somebody will pay it. If these guys will pay that much for it then it's worth that much.

PERIOD.

HO-HO-HO-ly **** thats a clean-*** LT1 with super low miles! I'm not that crazy loyal to LT1s in particular so, I personally wouldn't pay that for it when I could look for a used mod'ed LS1 or maybe a deal on a high milage C5 in that range. However, I dont see a problem with the price. A genuine SS which looks to be stock with only a few "bling-bling" mods... High price for somebody that just wants any old sports car but, I dont think thats the buyer he's looking for. If kept in this kind of condition it could be worth something eventually.

I did a quick look through that list of 35 cars today in between customers, and counted at least 5 that were not SS's. A few were not even V8 cars. Also, like AC said, they were all up there in price and most with higher milege than the topic car of this thread.

I agree. I think he'll get pretty close to that, but he might have to wait til spring to get it. (I didn't notice where it was located, so I dunno how seasonal the market is.)

Nice car, no doubt.

The worth of the car is what someone will pay for it. Speculate all day long on what it should be worth - it doesn't matter. I think my Chevelle is worth $80k, and there might be a guy out there who'll pay that, but until I find him and the transaction is made, the car still sits and is ultimately worth what the next guy will give me for it.

Wish I had the extra cash for this beauty. Looks like a real dime piece. I've always wanted a black on black set up.
