OK guys need some more opinions:

-decided on the Hurst pistol grip quarter stick shifter
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUU-3162001/

-also decided on the Lokar 36" dipstick
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LOK-TD350400FM36/

I also think we are going with a 9.5" 4800ish converter. What are some of benefits/downfalls between an 8" and a 9.5" converter?

Love my pistol grip shifter. I have the Lokar 36" dipstick and while it looks nice, its a pain in the *** to add fluid. If I had to do over again I would have got the Madman dipstick.

make sure they cut the ears off the th400, when i picked mine up from ATI they where still on there, had to get them to cut them off before i left. i am using the hurst quarterstick and really love it. your gonna hate that lokar when you have to fill and check it. you should deff rethink that and go with the madman unit. it is just like a stock gm piece.

Thanks for the input! But I think i'll just deal with it. I have heard both good and bad things about the madman dipstick. I have things in the way on the engine bay making it (possibly) not fit great. I also dont like to have to install it when installing the trans, I even struggle installing the 60e stick, just a pain IMO

The Lokar one will just test my patience!

Do you have the same shifter?

I think all I need from here is to figure out the situation for a driveshaft. I might have a line on a DS from an older Camaro with a 1350 yoke that I may just be able to cut down and have re balanced.

I have been running around on my stock steel one with the 60e!

I know Spohn makes a nice "top gun" ds, but I would rather not spend the $500 on it

JUst buy one new from a driveshaft vendor on here and call it the day.

do you have part numbers to your converter and flywheel?

Also do you plan on using a speedometer?

i did the th350 swap with 3800 convertor and am real happy wih it , as far as driveshaft your gonna halft to have on made, with th350 i got lucky and reused the one from my
4l60e. for a while i just modified the stock shifter and linkage to save money and slotted my old crossmember, but have since went back with UMI crossmember and b&m quarterstick.
i belive you ll be really happy with the swap, only real downfall i kno is OD but i dont drive my car on freeway or expressway, got truck for that

OK, researching the same swap idea - but for me automatic function must stay.

the factory shifter will work with forward pattern 350/400?

can I just run the car wihout even pulling the A4 settings from my PCM tune?

grab the speedo reading from an ABS wire?

do these sound right?

Seems like I can be shopping for a SBC 350/400 set up from any vintage and it will fit my block/crank/flexplate, yes?

A t350 might reuse stock driveshaft - short or long tail housing t350?

95 LT-1 with Eagle crank.
thanks

rather not spend $500 on a driveshaft as stated in the post above yours . I can have one built for much less.

converter is custom built, flywheel is a tci. speedo signal will be pinned into the VSS from the front ABS wheel speed sensor.
