388, lt4 intake, AFR 210 heads. A nasty build on the way

How is that not possible?

if hes looking to hit it with a 250+ shot its going to hurt his N/A power a bit. its just unrealistic thats all but not impossible.
call a converter company and speak with them about what stall should be in the car once the motor is all figured out

normally I stay out of these posts due to all of the brand emotions involved.
To the O.P., I have a similar build out in my shop...
396cid
Ported AFR 227's (older castings)
246/254 .613/.590 112lsa HR cam
Single plane intake
OEM pcm and MSD opti
700r4/12 bolt/ 3.73
the one time I had it onthe dyno it made 380whp (love telling people this
)
car has run a best of 11.10 @ 125 on a pitiful 1.6 60'...this is due to the car launching around 2K rpm off the bottle. My car is buit for the bottle and I was willing to sacrifice NA performance.
Your ET goal seem very likely given the parts you have, I have a customer that has run in the 6.2's (1/8 mile with the oem pcm and an LT4 intake). but with a SR cam...so 10s NA should be withing reach if the car can use the power it will make.

The OP gives half the info about the heads and then the clueless masses keep telling him 500rwhp is possible with a HR cam and a TH400.
People need to give COMPLETE info about a setup they are asking for help on and respondents need to have the slightest of clues what they are talking about. There are very few NA solid roller LT1s making 500rwhp through a T56 or 4L60E both of which dyno better than a TH400.
As covered his ET goal does not match his rwhp goal so the two need to be separated.

I did not know the 210s needed the LT4 intake, learn something new everyday!
If the OP was going 11.0 NA then 10s will be easy NA and 9s should not be an issue on spray. 500rwhp NA will be very hard to do with a HR cam and th400. Who knows though get er done and lets see what happens.

i put down 425rwhp thru a th400, 9", and 28" slicks. stock shortblock and a hr cam that runs the power brakes like a champ.
if i had a 388 with more compression, nicely ported afr 210's, and a much more aggressive cam, i bet i could get fairly close to 500rwhp.

are you running a stock ltx intake or single plane/carb setup?

Where are you spinning to?
.
Remember that OP wants to do 500rwhp NA through a TH400 and big stall while being limited to 7000rpm with an HR.
Pull the rpm limit and jump to an SR and its possible, but wont be cheap...
You will spend more on your valvetrain then most spend on their shortblock.

i wouldnt limit myself to the factory pcm if i was wanting to make 500rwhp. i would do a megasquirt, single plane, and sbc dizzy. or the ls1 pcm....
