My LT1 is slower than ballz. It looks like crap and gets stuck in the snow everywhere, the windshield washer pump crapped itself and to top it off the damned heater core is clogged again.

I'm ok with all that though because I paid 3k cash for it and all it has needed to keep me getting where I am going for almost 3 years now is a **** load of 93 octane, an opti and an ICM. Fires up every time and gets me from A to B without a monthly payment. It will even entertain me when I occasionally feel like kicking the *** out around a corner.

I am thinking about going up and getting my similarly crappy 4x4 dually from my brother for the winter though, even though the doors freeze shut a lot easier on the truck, already broke the driver's door handle, it gets 4 MPG and the damned thing is impossible to park...

Love my GM hoopties.

Alot of people do Not give the ol' boat anchor enough respect. Until you beat them and there POS car for what they are, and what they offer. LT1 cars in general are awesome. Thats why i proudly own one!

Just like my buddy raves about his LS1...........He paid 7500 for his I paid 4000 for mine and have about 1500 in it so 5500 to 7500 and no car payment and he still can't hold with the LT1

Anyone have an estimate of an LT1 TA with 373's, 2800 stall, Cai, hollow cat and a flowmaster muffler, what it would run ?........never had it at the track.

And came stock with the Yank SS 3600. The production of the LS1 might have been delayed. The Yank SS didn't evolve untill 02, or 03 though.

I like being the underdog. Even though its for sale doesn't mean I don't still like the platform. It never ceases to amaze me when I'm out in the Formula every LS wants a piece. Most are pretty shocked at the outcome. It does take a bunch more to go fast, but thats all part of the fun. Having said that I'm still trying to get my hands on my ol man's 2003 Lingenfelter 383 Corvette. It already runs low 11s with a tiny weenie cam, 3.42s, and 2800 converter thru the cats. Its a cam and converter swap away from solid 10s and it still turns in the twisties.

I've noticed one of the biggest places I get compliments is at car dealerships (especially GM ones) and gas stations.

One of the best compliments I've gotten from my car was from an older gentleman at a gas station. My car was sitting there idling and he looked at me and said "I haven't heard a car sound that good in over 30 years" He went on to tell me about his GTO's, chevelle etc he used to have back in the good 'ol muscle car days...

It's not that there are faster cars, there will always be faster cars. I just am disappointed at times that it doesn't live up to my admittedly high expectations. I put a lot of money and work into this motor and the rest of the car and sometimes it feels pretty fun and fast, other times it mostly feels slow and I almost feel embarrassed or ashamed because a lot of people seem to have faster cars and spent less money, or just got lucky with a good combo. That probably also has to do with how a lot of co-workers and friends think my car is really fast, but if they drove it I sometimes think they'd be disappointed.

Yeah, I love sitting at stop lights with my 950 rpm choppy idle and drawing the attention of true, old school hot rodders. Always get a thumbs up which usually results in me giving them a nice loud bark into 2nd...The wife's not a big fan...lol..

I disagree. I think it's the lack of relability and cost of maintenance/repairs on the LT that scares people away nowadays.

Lack of reliability is reflection on the owner in my mind.

No in the case of the LT1. They are unreliable for the most part period. I've owned 7, all have similar issues. That's just part of the game when owning an LT1 car. Things ARE going to break and often!

Again, any estimates of the LT1 with 373's and a 2800 stall, for 0-60 and 1/4 ?

Are you set on the 2800 stall?
you can probably get some more with a bigger stall any where from 3000-4000k.
But id say 1.6-1.7's maybe? with a good tire
