Nothing like driving into a storm with manual windows. Unclicking seatbelt, leaning over console while trying to stay in your lane, and rolling the window up as fast as you can without wrecking.

Better than trying to roll it up in the rain when the MOTOR FAILS!

Where do you live? It'd be kinda hard to do the swap if it's very far.

You guys who are having problems with your power windows may want to consider doing the power window mod, which is cheap and easy to do - a whole lot easier than changing to roll ups. I did the mod and didn't have to even change the motor, and my passenger window ended up faster than the driver's side.

I'm not an expert on this, so I'll try...

Apparently window motors go bad on these cars because the motors aren't getting enough power. The mod supplies power directly though the battery via relays.

There's also a kit you can buy if you don't want to piece this together.

I like my firebird which has power everything but my camaro was a base model v6 before i put the lt1 in and i love that it has power nothing. The general makes the worst door lock actuators and window regulators/motors keep the manual stuff. There would be way too much involved to switch. I know all about swapping stuff in f-bodies i mean i put a 93 lt1 setup in a 95 camaro and id rather do that all over again then swap from manual to power.

To do that could be a bigger problem than just finding doors. You're talking about buying two new doors ($100 minimum), and then getting them painted to match because even if you find a door the same color, the match is still going to be off a little. Then, if you try to sell it, people are going to think its been in a wreck because the VIN sticker on the door won't match.

well if i do the swap it will be by getting new doors with the power stuff in them already, and im not worried about painting the doors since i just landed a job in a body shop. i just need to figure out how hard the wiring is before i go buy two new doors

I did this it made the one window faster, but now my drivers side froze the other day from the weather.

For cars with no power windows, take off your door panels, there is already 2 wires run into the door, a blue and a green if I recall, that go to nowhere. I always figured GM just used the same doors on both types of windows, but didnt wire them up for the manuals.

I really don't mean to bring up a two-week old thread but it's the closest thing I could find that would help me. I have manual windows and locks, and for everyone who is going to say "keep the manual windows", save your breath. I'm set on swapping them. I side swiped a trailer and jacked my door up. So I found a door on craigslist that's the same color as mine for $150. It has power windows and locks. Now I need to know how to wire it up and what I need to do to make the passenger side have power windows and locks as well. Help is highly appreciated. By the way, my car is a 1994 and the door is off a 1994 so compatibility should be pretty good.

You want to run a fused hot wire from the battery to an automotive relay, from there you want your switches to activate the relays(you will need at least two relays per side to make the windows go up and down.)

It might, what do you have in your car already. What kind of wires? The stock setup has the power wires running quite a long distance before they reach the motors.
