The TB bypass removes the hot coolant running through your TB to give you a colder air charge. Its worth maybe 1 or 2 hp. You remove the coolant line from under the TB and place it onto the steam pipe on the passenger side of the intake manifold. Then there is the free ram air mod (cutting out an opening where your CAI filter is) and plugging up the hole in your intake elbow where the silencer is

The bypass is free on 96-97s, you literally just move a hose

It would be the same or real close id think. Basicly all your doing is taking the hose to the drivers side of the T.B. and connecting it to the place that connects to the pass. side of the T.B..

I think there was a thread where someone added up the increase HP from the various free mods and it was a decent increase. Think about it - even if you only get 10 hp, it's free hp!

My favorite was the air box mod - here's a pic since I can't find the thread:

IMO, it looks better than some of the sewer pipe intakes and supposedly flow just as well as some of the well known CAI if you add an elbow.

I think I just dooked myself. That looks AWFUL. I can't see the benefit either, especially since you're just sucking hot air from the engine bay.
