That looks good, bet that engine could gone a long time, I dont see the point of refreshing the engine (every bearing looks new in good condition). Any good luck with the rebuild.
What is that for valve train setup you have there? never saw something like that in an LTx, is it a shaft-mounted rocker arm setup. What are you going to do with the opti or is it still a secret?

it wasn't a point of refreshing it more as to see just what it looked like after two years of constant 8000+rpm abuse....aparently it didn't mind it lol........but theres still a few things im gonna tweak/change to make more power just in the short block..........yea that valvetrain isn't anything special.......just a simple jesel shaft rocker setup.....

as for the opti its in the trash and i plugged the hole in the cover......i got an MSD Pro Billet Cam Sync Dizzy going out back in the intake so now i can run sequential off the XFI and tune one cyl at a time....

Just curious, why go through all the oil control mods and tricks if everything looked mint?

Seems like it wouldn't hurt to leave well enough alone, unless you are reassembling it with different clearances.

Are you painting the valley white?

Can you post some pictures of the chamfered holes when you get the block back? Or just how many you did and where they are?

it looked mint but i did have a drain back issue........with 6qts in the pan when i back off the throttle at the end of the 1/4 and the nose comes down the pressure was going from 65 down to 40 then back up.......means it was sucking air for a split second........i fixed it by running 7.5 quarts........but thats prob a 10 hp loss just due to windage........trying to fix it to run on 6qts......if this doens't fix it i got another plan.......

Steam pipes? So none of the oil drips down onto the cam. The oil drains back to the pan through the very front and very back of the block.

nope i dont want to do that i still intend on seeing street usage and the way the valve train and everything looked when it came apart i dont want to change anyting........ill sacrifice the extra oil on the cam and lifters to keep it cool....same thing with the rockers and valve springs........

i gotta do some oil control mods on the heads too once i get the valves out of them.......hopefully tonight....

It all makes sense now, thanks .

My shortblock was done up in POR15 to aid drainback, have you thought about trying that? I've never used it yet personally, but it does have its fans.

Can't wait to see it back together.
