Default EWP time?

i need some guidance on whether or not to change to an electric water pump. the car has a rebuilt 355, exhaust, and stuff... it runs cool on the highway and during spirited driving with a stock T-stat, but in town its over 210,215 every time i pull up to a light, sometimes hotter. im thinking about a 160 t-stat too.

should i just put a 160 t-stat in it and call it good? the car gets driven every day too. im kinda worried about the reliability of the EWP.

any recomendations on a brand of pump?

The 160-stat won't do you much good in hot weather without reprogrammed PCM operation.

I see you have a hotcam...assuming you have tuning already you can just ask for a reflash.

And I wouldn't worry about the reliability of the EWPs. I've been on mine for 6 years now and I'm pretty sure one of the Impala guys has been running the same one for 8ish.

Isn't 210-215 normal running temperature? IIRC, my stock tune had the 1st fan coming on around 215-220, so aren't these cars designed to run somewhere around that area?

PMC has been tuned. The fans kick-on temps have been adjusted a lil bit already. Thanks for all the advice guys. I didnt really want to drop the coin in an EWP just yet anyway. ill get a 160 t-stat and go from there. Im tired of this thing running hot at stop lights and city driving.
