I don't know what the problem so many people have is, with 4.10s I still get upper teens out of my pig, be it rural Wisconsin driving or highway.

Should be more concerned with how crappy your stall could be with gas mileage than 4.10s. Only thing I'd worry about is drone at speed depending on your exhaust setup.

Ok maybe I should have mentioned the 3800stall Edge converter as well.

The last like 4 years or so the car has been running 11s all my 11 second passes are at Great Lakes Dragaway which is about 150miles from home. I gas up right here by home getting 93 straight gas if possible and get back home on the same tank of gas, including racing I am getting 18-19mpg out of those trips.

Power and gear don't cost MPG the way they did 20+years ago.

Back two summers ago, my pickup was down for a transplant. I drove the Impala on my daily commute for two weeks. 5.57 gears, Yank SS3600, and the stock LT1 and averaged 19 mpg. 44 miles one way to work with 46 traffic light/stop signs. So there!

build the shortblock back pretty much stock, or maybe some pistons, and put an s-trim on it.

Did you see the other thread where someone is saying under 200miles from a full tank on a near stock car? Maybe you need to give him some pointers.
