All depends on what the rest of your exhaust setup is...

For true duals with an X-Pipe and 2 mufflers dumped before the axle, you might try Dynomax Bullets, or some glasspacks. Both are long, narrow-bodied mufflers that work well in limited space/ clearance.

For a catback system, just install a cutout for instant loud...

If your just changing the muffler look into Edelbrock SDT or Pypes, either street pro or Violator if you want a controlled more refined GMMG sound.

you tube has a ls1, same car but w/ two different versions of there muffler. There is also a lt1 firebird but with there pro V which they no longer make and sound nothing like a there street pro or violator. The street pro and violator basically look like a the inside of a Gmmg chambered muffler but in a crossflow f-body muffler shell. The street pro has sound packing material like a magnaflow and the violator has none.

I was going to mention Magnaflow, but he said he wanted loud. The Mag is a great sounding and inexpensive ($100) muffler for the LT1 but it's not loud IMO, and I guess some people prefer loud over good.

Is he making new tail pipes or you gonna reuse the factory ones? To weld in just a muffler and reuse the stock tail pipes should be in the $70.00 zone. About 1/2 hr labor for a exhaust shop. You can weld the tail pipes on but I like to use band clamps on the inlet of the muffler. This if you have to remove it, well it will make life easier.

For a completely stock exhaust, I think Flowmaster's 80 series muffler sounds absofreakinlutely fantastic.
