Wow, alot of things went on there. Since you replaced the 'opti try checking your connections first, including the harness, coil wire, etc. In regards to the 'opti, I keep hearing that no matter what brand you buy, be it OEM, MSD, or whatever, half of these things don't work or die quickly right out of the box. First things first, check your wiring...

I had a 95 Z28 bout 8 years ago. We thought the opti was bad as it wouldnt start or start and die. Was the ignition switch was bad. The part down on the column. Odd why it wouldnt stop. I'd give the switch a look.

You should head over to the LT1 section of this forum. Lots of opti information there with a lot of knowledgeable folks.

LMFAO....Are you serious man? It sounds like a nightmare... When you put the waterpump back on, did you remove your thermostat and fill the engine with coolant and bleed the lines? Did you hood the battery and all the connections on the alternator correctly? What type of opti did you install?

I've never heard of a newer car running and not being able to shut it off. Isn't there another way to turn a car off other than yanking wires and stuff? Maybe pull a relay somewhere?

about this overheating situation, when you had the water pump off do you remember seeing/replacing the collar which actually drives the water pump?

Sounds like it overheated REALLY REALLY bad. Could be the motor is toast. Do a compression test.

when all that happened did you by any chance remove the intake from the throttle body?
if so maybe when you put it back on it probabl didnt go all the way in
my car would not start because the intake wasnt fully in all the way but once i fixed that, car started right away

How did you tighten all the bolts if the intake was not on correct?

i think he is referring to the elbow... The quickest way to shut an lt1 down is to remove the elbow. Shuts down instantly with one screw.
