Does seem to be the consensus of everyone I talk to that when you start running stickies and making power it's not if but when it comes to the 10 bolts. I agree that the hotcam with 1.7s should make for a pretty sweet street car. I'm looking at the XFI 466 personally.

Dont go with the hot cam it is a slight increase over the stock cam you can get a bigger cam and still keep it a nice DD.

Launching at 3600 or above on "sticky" tires at the track.. Is a huge gamble.

Higher gearing helps tighten up the soft low end of a big stall. You won't necessarily NEED more stall with more gear, but if it behaves the same as a smaller stall, then why not? . I plan to run at least a loose 4K stall (probably a PT series, maybe a 4400) with a 4.11'd 12-bolt. Remember, its SMILES per gallon - not miles. .

PS: I ran 11s with a 3200 stall ...calling a smaller stall "junk" is a bit of a stretch, and is actually great for a DD who doesn't want crazy gearing. Stall rating should depend on a lot of things, not just what gears you are running or your cam. I personally enjoyed being able to drive an hour to the track, hotlap a few 11s, drive an hour back, and take it to work the next morning - no changing tires, removing weight, messing with tune or bottles, etc.

There are people well into the 10's with an A4 and a 10 bolt they are tougher then people give credit too. I thought this when i first got my car but seeing what people do with the 10 bolts in the A4's is pretty crazy and the M6 well thats a different story

Will and grace lmfao!

Yeah I'm hoping for a pretty fun DD, but I will be running 1.6s so I can stick with lt4 springs...

Dustin, I have heard this all before but I am getting it in a trade and I just want a little more power I'm not aiming for 400rwhp, just something over 300.

OP your car will be fun as hell and a beast with a SS3600, 4.10s and a hotcam. I gurantee that. If u run 26" tires at the track let me kno what rpms u cross at the traps, if u have enough.

He's probably planning on putting 4.10s in his Bolt on car there for asking you what RPM you have at the end of the 1/4 mile. Not to hard

Oh, I see now, sorry I was confused.

I WILL have enough, I have had the car near 130 before, and I highly doubt I will get close to 130 in the 1/4 LOL

gotcha that makes sense. The 10 bolt can be hit or miss. Ive put numerous mid 11 pass on my 10bolt and been beating on it since 06. When are you getting the cam and who is installing it

To the OP. Do u run 26" tires at the track? And when u hit 130mph on the highway was that in drive or overdrive? You got to remember u dont use 4th gear at the track.

And yes im doing a little research for the shootout i need every advantage possible

Just put the transmission into (D) instead of (OD). wheneve ru make a track pass u want to keep the car in its 1 to 1 gear ratio which is 3rd gear or (drive). try that at the track with 4.10's and 26" tall tires and let me know the results rpm wise at the traps. Everyone says you will run out of rpms at the traps with that tire and gear combo but i have yet to see anyone try it. I have a funny feeling u might actually be able to make it work.

pretty much the rules r set, we r just waiting for GIZMO to release them. not to sure on the hold up but the process takes time just like everything else.

yup the plan is 1.7 rockers and valvesprings if i have the money after buying a trailer and affording the trip. but i have a few other tricks up my sleeve for the shootout
