Default Gears, Cam, & Stall???

Hey guys,

So... here's the deal...

-I've already got 4.10's in my car...

-I'm possibly picking up a Hotcam W/ Springs, Retainers, and Locks on Sunday...

What Stall would be recommended with the Hotcam AND 4.10's... (I was told 4K stall for 4.10's but IDK if that changes with a cam)

Also, I'm thinking of just using Stock Pushrods and picking up some Proform Rockers, and a new timing chain/sprocket... Is there anything else I will need?

Please dont say go with LE/AI... Cause I am getting this cam set up in a trade, and my goals are Low 12's... No need for a HUGE cam.

Once you get low 12's you will want high 11's and so on if you don't race the car to much at the track the Hotcam seems like a good DD cam over stock.

personally I would never go through the trouble of a cam swap for something as small as the hot cam but thats me stick some 1.7s on top of the hot cam give it a lil bit more lift.

Not sure on the stall with the 4.10 in an auto I'm going to go 4k on my 355 with the 3.73's

Well when that time comes, if I want High 11's bad enough... I'LL SPRAY THAT BITCH!!!

Well it is my DD, and I will prob. only run it at the track 5 or 6 times this season.

Can I get a 3800 from Yank?

Also, is it ok to run stock pushrods with the hotcam?

Yeah it would be fine as long as your running self aligning (SA) rocker arms. if you use non self aligning (NSA), then you'll need hardened pushrods and guide plates. I agree with lawhead, throw some 1.7 rollers on there.

I hear ya guys on getting more lift with the 1.7's...

This may be a stupid question... Are the rockers that come with the Hotcam kit, self aligning?

Yes they are self aligning. And go with the 3800 or 4K. A lot of people said a 3600 just feels too loose with 4.10s

1.7s with that hot cam, a tire and a 3800 stall with all the usual boltons and you should be in the low 12's high 11's at sea level I would think. Spray it and you'll be low 11's. I know a guy here in Wyoming at 7000ft+ DA in the summer with boltons and a baby cam running mid 11's on the spray.

Who said 4k with 4:10's? You can just make general statements like that...

You have to match the gear and stall and tire with the cam, heads, and rest of the setup...

If you're going with a Hotcam, 26" slick, and you already have 4:10's, I would be doing a 3200 stall...

That cam makes plenty of tq down low, you dont want to waste it by revving right past it with a loose stall. The 4:10s will really keep you in the powerband too.

Do a 3200, it will rip and be really fun on the street. Then if you ever spray it out of the hole it will loosen the stall up to a 3600+

Anybody got some recommended rockers? Part numbers please?

Got slicks yesterday, not much tread but the soft compond should be better than a shitty street tires!

So a 3200 with a 26" tall DR, what bout on street tires, they're not 26" tall I don't think?

Would a 3k feel too small/loose?

"Small" and "loose" are opposite things...

The higher the stall number, the "looser" it will feel.

I would do a 3200. 3000 would be fine though.

My 275/45/17 street tires are actually a tiny bit taller than my 26" slicks...

I like the Comp Ultra Pro Magnum rockers...

I have 275/40R17 so I think they are a little shorter than 26" but I'm not posotive!

Yeah cause 3000 are a lot cheaper.

Anyone else have input on the 3000 with 4.10 and hotcam?

I'm looking for a rocker that is a little less, I'm on a budget!
