1.7 rockers on stock cam lift?
Stock 1997 LT1 camshafts specs are 200/207 .447/.459 117 LSA if the sticky is correct.
I'm assuming thats with stock 1.5 (if thats what they are) rockers?
I'm going to wait on camming my car I think, so I'm thinking of going with rockers to give me just a little more 'umph'.
1.7 is the biggest I've heard on stock cam (what a couple of guys ran for the bolt-on LT1 records) so that puts lift at .506/,520, correct?
Is that amount of lift safe on stock springs? What are they rated to?
If not, would LT4 springs suffice?
If I have to step up to a bigger spring, I might as well do the cam swap...
And finally, will these fit under trimmed stock valve covers?
I realize it probably depends on the brand.
One more I guess, which valve covers would be the best offer?
I don't care for shiny and can't justify $200 for a set.

I'm overly conservative but I would say the stock springs would fall apart. The hotcam springs could probably do it but who knows how long. If you're going to spend the money on rockers and springs anyway why not just get a hotcam?

I don't think they will fit under the stock cover because they are not a narrow body rocker. I run the tall Proform 141-131 covers myself.

By the way, the stock 1993-1996 Corvette Valve covers are said to clear those no problem.
Plus they look 10x better.
If anyone has some, I would be in the market =)

The stock springs with miles on them are not enough for stock rockers on a stock cam, they float.
I would not do 1.7s because later on you will probably go back and buy 1.6s to match whatever cam you do go with. Buying things twice is a great way to waste money.
Trimming will fit about anything shy of shaft mounts under stock valvecovers again saving money.
