Default Kooks True Dual System

Ok I know this is an LS1 system, but will it easily fit up to an LT1?

And what exactly are the differences between the LS1 exhaust mounts and the LT1 mounts?

oh and just in case you dont know which system Im talking about, its this one

I see no problem with that system working on a 93-97 if you are capable of fabricating your own mounts (if need be) and possibly slightly modifying the system. Welding stainless isnt exactly easy, even pros have issues. i could see an exhaust shop making that setup work easy though.

For $1895.00 (and I don't even want to know how much shipping is), you can get a pair of $900.00 Kooks headers, and a true dual custom fabricated over-the axle system that will blow that away. For a less, you can go Hookers, and custom mandrel-bent stainless anywhere from dumped to over the axle with stainless 45* slash tips. You decide how much to spend, but I wouldn't dump that much money on the system you're looking at.

Alot of places are offering it way cheaper

plus you have to remember this is a 3" mandrel bent system that is made of 16 gauge 304 Stainless steel

I added up just the raw materials of comparable quality and the price was pretty close without any labor, not to mention none of the shops here will do it, they all mention EPA laws that prohibit them, but New Mexico doesnt even require inspection stickers

Not to mention I could do this in my garage

I found the answer for future reference

310301491 Rubber Isolator
10407350 Hanger Driver Side
10272958 Bracket Passenger Side
11516071 Nut Passenger Side
11500323 Washer Passenger Side

Those are the parts to make an LS1 catback fit on a LT1

and since the 96-02 front mounts are the same, it would seem that with these parts I could make the Kooks kit fit

It looks like a great fit of a quality piece. Yes the tips are slightly off but that could be fixed. It should fit with minor modification.

LS1 exhaust is slightly longer on the passenger side in some header set ups. YOu may have to do some cutting.

Im gonna have to massage the exhaust to header interface anyway, due to me having FLP headers with the V-band flange as opposed to the slip on connection Kooks uses

I just crunched the numbers, and just for the parts Im gonna need to plunk down $1200

So Im not sure how much the labor would cost, but the difference is 600 bucks

for a good system with that tucks underneath, doesnt kill ground clearance, has mandrel bends, and clean welds
Im pretty certain thats worth 600 bucks

Especially since a full system like this would need to be mocked up and fitted by a shop

this kit is already ready to go

After digging around, honestly I think the system was based off of a custom job done for Dutchesscamaro

We met with George R at KOOKS and he designed the perfect system for us which included the above plus resonators, twin mufflers and Corsa tips.
The installation was done flawlessly with exceptional weld quality and incredible workmanship. Pictured below are some of the build and install photos.

We would like to thank Mr. Goerge KOOK, George R., George Jr., Larry and Geronimo for the time, effort and hospitality that was given to us while we were at KOOKS.

The sound is exactly what we wanted. The exhaust sound is deep, not raspy and is totally awesome.

If you would like additional pics send PM.

IF you are considering a system such as this, I would strongly recommend contacting George R. at KOOK Custom Headers.

the whole x-pipe setup isn't going to fit, so you're going to have to redo that whole section. Sounds like a great bang for the buck modification

No damn way I would spend that kind of money for the Kooks.

In terms of design, The Kooks is not really similar to mine. Mine is more modeled after the Basani TD's:

Here are the pics of the system uninstalled:

Here are some installed pics:

The price with headers is about spot on for what the system is. The shop i went to that did my under the axle duals would have done over the axle like the Kooks kit for $800+you supply mufflers/tips. And thats with aluminized steel.

Wayyy too much money... and that vid sounded like ***. No doubt a very high quality setup, but you could get something better/cheaper than that...

Yea yours looks good, seems to be routed about the same, is that a Magnaflow X? when I was considering doing a custom system, I wanted to use that style of Xpipe

Is that stainless or anode protected steel?

See the thing is that I wanted to use Stainless in my system
