I don't mean to come off as a wise *** but if you don't know this, perhaps you shouldn't be fooling with engines without some experienced help.

The heads are identical and can go left or right.

Almost 100% sure you can't do that because of the steam pipe in the back.

So you don't sound like a "wise ***" at all

They cannot go either way as "wiseass" up there stated.
The ports for the coolant crossover must be on the rear. Also the Drivers side head will have a threaded port for the coolant temp sensor...

You’re all wrong.

If you can’t give accurate advise, don’t.

The heads are identical.

Both ends of the heads have steam ports. There’s a plug in one end which would end up at the front.

Both heads have a temp sensor port, there’s a plug in the port on the right head.

Im still correct. Im well aware the heads have plugged fittings that you can use if necessary but I highly doubt he wants yo go to that trouble. Come on...

Fact remains as they set in front of him they will only work one way.

Fact: The head castings (notice I said CASTINGS, minus the plugs) are identical.

If the plugs weren't in the heads you couldn't tell the difference between the two. With the plugs installed in FACTORY configuration, they can only go on one way.

The way the heads came from the factory the passenger side head will have a plug on the side that taps into the water jacket between the 6 and 8 exhaust ports whereas the drivers side will either have a temp sensor or open bung for the temp sensor between the 1 and 3 exhaust ports. There will be plugs on the front of the heads whereas the rear will be open bungs for banjo bolts for the steam pipe.

Both heads in the above picture are facing frontwards. You can see the plug that taps into a waterjacket in the pass. side head.

Just look at which side the plugs are currently on. the side with the plug in is the FRONT of the head in THAT SPECIFIC CONFIGURATION. If you want to change it you need to change the plugs on both heads to the opposite side. it takes literally 1 minute to do, but if you don't need to, then don't do it lol. Just install them with the plugs to the front and your good to go!
