Default How to open hood after breaking latch cable?

I just broke the hood latch cable on my car. How do I open the hood now with a broken latch cable? Also, how do I fix the broken cable once the hood is open?

Some how or another you have to get to the latch and move the mechanism in the manor the cable would. Next you can either but cable and the ends and cut to length a replacement or just purchase a new one. Not sure if part stores carry them or not. Someone else would chime in on this I'm sure.

Fixing the cable, best to get a used one off the FS board.

Now getting the hood up without tearing the hood up? Only if your a magician and a damn good one unless you can reach the broken portion of the cable in the area of the latch.

you should be able to remove the plastic directional piece that directs the air to the radiator and the get better access to the hood latch.

Now that I think of it, this might work.

Think thats a hassel

A friend of mine was having his car smoged
and one of the injectors was leaking bad and the engine baie caught fire

When he went to open the hood, the hood latch snapped off in his hand and the car was burned out

Talk about bad timing

Yeah start pulling those plastic pins by the nose and work your way up there. It's doable.

So the cable must have snapped near the latch because I was able to pull the entire length of cable out through the interior of the car. So as a temporary solution, I wired the existing cable that was attached to the release handle to the latch, then to a location under the front of the car for easy access until I get a new cable. Yes, I know, it could allow for someone to unlatch my hood without having the security of the release being inside the car, but you would also have to know for one that I even have the quick release, and for 2 where I located it to gain access to the engine bay. For now, it is a good fix without "installing hood pins" on a stock hood that doesn't need them, which would allow even less security than my current setup.
