Can I guess you are MISTAKING the gen 1 1-piece rear main for a gen 2?

The LT1, LT4 and L99(4.3l V8 based engine only in Caprice sedan 94-96) are the gen 2 motors

Vortec anyone... is a gen II non lt based. I just wanted to know if the LT blocks had to be machined differently because of the reverse flow. anyway the reason I ask is I am going to go pick up a gen II 1pc rear-main block and was interested if it would work in the TA.

The Vortec is the same as a SBC. The timing cover, water pump, and coolant passages are different. The Vortec is not a Gen II

Basicly it is identical to a 1 peice rear main seal trad SBC minus the front and the head deck surface, all the bottom end measurements are the same.
