I use ATI dampers on all of my motors. The quality is second to none.

If you put the hub in boiling water before installation, it goes on much easier.

They are quite a bit lighter than stock. Especially if you run the aluminum hub.

Darren, would you suggest the aluminum or steel hub for me.

7000 RPM, M6, big shot of nitrous.

Thanks

Greg

Aluminum if you have the coin. I have a steel one but either one is great.

Personally I would not run the aluminum hub on a street car. Wear of the seal area can be an issue long term.

Most of the weight savings is realized in the shell

What type of gains are here? since its lighter then stock it cuts down on rotating mass right? would it be a noticable gain?

I bought one two years ago, it's been a great addition.
It slides on and off with proper tools and without frustration and looks great.
The timing marks make adjusting rockers easy too

Quality, the first time you pull the balancer on the hub you will understand. There are cheaper alternatives, but this isn't where you should save money.

You can purchase different shells and hubs for the assembly, you can also attach a flying magnet or something more serious like a blower hub.

The shell is able to be rebuild, so it should be the last balancer you buy.

Reduction of your "Moment of inertia" on your rotating parts.

I run the 10% under jegs piece... I got it on sale and it is a good quality unit, definitely blows the stock pieces out of the water. I use it with a mallory crank trigger (they're all the same anyways) and the only difficult thing is centering the crank trigger since there's no real way to register it on the stock style balancer. I used some ~3/8" spacers and some trial and error. Ended up probably ~.005" off center but I can live with that, the gap ain't too sensitive on these crank triggers.

The damper is also a very important part of the valvetrain, most overlook that part of it. That in addition to what mark said is why its a must on my engine.
