Power source when engine is running only
I have the hotwire kit for my Walbro Fuel Pump, so my FP gets it's power from the back of the alternator...I am considering doing this on Tuesday BUT I thought about it...Isn't the back of the alternator hot ALL the time because it gets a direct line from the battery?? I thought the one-wire connector was the only one that was hot when the engine was running because of the fact that it is the line that charges the battery once the car starts, but ALL the power from the battery is connected to the back of the alternator...right? If this is right, then the hot wire from the back of the alternator to the FP would be a constant hot and would not work to activate the EWP when the engine starts...am I wrong?
Sorry if this is kinda retarded, but I dont understand the wiring much yet..working on it lol.
Right now mine is set up so that the pump comes on with the key on and no manual switch, but that draws alot of power off of the battery if I am sitting with just the radio on and my car is a DD.
All I want to know is if I am right or wrong as far as the wire from the hotwire kit on the alternator, and if I am, what wire would be an acceptable one to trigger the EWP WITH the Fuel Pump
I can set you up with a switch and harness for the EWP. It'd be OFF-Normal-ON. I could integrate your cooling fans into the ON portion for track use. Just don't touch the switch and it'll operate how it does now with key on. LED indicators can be added as well for safety!
