Valvoline VR1 is good for zinc. I usually just use the 99 cent stuff for break in though, works fine.

Finally the truth has been spoken about the BS break- in of a new motor!
Install it.....make all connectors seal.....double check your hose connections.....belt is properly routed.......fresh fuel in the tank......fully charged battery... fire her up! Make a walk around while idling search for leaks mainly at the fuel system connections and be sure the injectors are seated AGAIN check the ground beneath the entire car... Hit the throttle a few times to let everyone know you are back in business wash up in the area just so you can keep an eye on it at this point it should be at operation temps bleed the cooling system then go for a ride........if ANYTHING is going to break it will weather you baby it or drive it hard! If you trust your machinist you will be fine!

like previously mentioned, check for leaks, change the oil, drop the hammer.

look at any quality race team, shop, etc. and you'll see that their engines get broken in on the engine dyno/chassis dyno/track not like an old school flat tappet motor.

I did 40 miles of alternating gears building speed up to 90 in some cases and let the engine slow the car down. Changed the oil and then went WOT, no problems here.
