Default OBD-II PCM Tuning??

whats up guys, i got a 97 Z28 M6. I was looking at LT1_edit, and its 550$!!, is there another program cheaper to do the same stuff? I am not a expert tunner (atleast not yet lol) but i want something to get the job done. I am only 17 and i still will need to buy a used laptop. I want to delete my EGR, AIR, rear 02 sensors, and maybe anything else i need to delete down the road. Any input would be great. Thanks, David.

Until Tunercat gets their act together, LT1Edit is your only choice for any significant tuning and/or PCM parameter modifications.

I've heard rumors that tunercat is going to be releasing an OBDII version in late february or early march. I am in the same boat as you, I don't feel like spending $550 on LT1edit when the OBDI guys are spending less than $200 on tunercat. Another option for you is to get an OBDI computer and knock sensor and then you can use tunercat.

i can't switch to an OBDI pcm, because i wont pass emissions, and with me getting longtubes, deleting cats, and a soon to be 383 stroker, i need the OBDII and just delete emissions codes. I think im gonna have to spend the 550$, i have heard the LT1_Edit is awsome, it just sucks u can't buy a used one....they seem like microsoft lol.

You won't pass emissions with longtubes sans cats anyway.

Question lt1edit?

has tunercat come out with anything yet for obdII? I think mine is obdII but I'm not sure, how can I tell? where do I find lt1edit or tunercat? and why would anyone spent $550 for software when autoparts stores carry the same type of software installed on handheld units for like $200?

I have been using tune Cat OBD-II for a while now. they had a few issues on the 86-97 F-body for a while but it is good to go now. I have tune a dozen or so no problems

BTW I have yet to see a decent hand held that even compares

You can tell by the year of your car. I believe all 95 and before f-cars had the OBD 1. Leaving 96 and up OBD 2.
