Alternator pigtail

Alternator pigtail The clip holding my pigtail in my alternator has just broken. I picked up a replacement at Advance Auto Parts, and is an exact fit. Only problem is the original pigtail has only one red wire, but the new one has a red, black, and brown coming out of it. The original is a PED 5* and the new is a PED 8*. Does anyone know where to
A) get the correct pigtail?
or
B) Know if i can simply connect the red wire and either clip and cover or just cover the brown and black?
any help is greatly appreciated!

i was told by GM that if i did that, my alternator just wouldnt work. they say the wires have to be hooked up
Look at your old connector, identify where the wire is in the connector. Find the wire in the new connector, cut the other 2 off flush and butt connect the wire you need. I just did the same thing.
BTW buy the connector from Advance or similar place its 1/2 the dealer parts price and does the same thing.

The stock connector has only one wire needed to make it work. There isn't anything to connect the other wires to, so it would be kind of hard to connect them.
