Density Altitude... the higher up in elevation the thinner the air. Thin air is not good for making power.

Cars run their best in -DA... general rule of thumb is a cool day with low humidty is the best time to run.

No reason to have a stalled auto if you are going to roll; I say race from a dig and screw that 10 bolt up, who knows you might be one of the lucky ones and your rear will be fine.

lol well thats why i didnt go all out with a big stall... cuase im not trying to race from a dig, just from a roll..... once i break it ill do a ford swap and prob put a big stall so i can be safe from a dig without anything breaking

Stalls are not just about getting off the line it's about putting the engine rpm's in the power band of the cam. On a 350 to make that kind of power the cam is gonna be a tad nasty so a stock 1650 stall can cause other problems since it will most likley make power from 2000+. It also helps on those odd 3/2 down shifts when you think maybe it could have even gone to first but if you have no traction the 10 bolt will live a lot longer. mine has but then again I am starting to get some leaking out the front seal so I know those crush washers in there have been taking some abuse and it is time to start saving.

by bigger i mean higher... and yea higher stall the faster it will launch if your set up right..... i know im not in error in thinking that. 3k vs 4k stall if you have Dr's on the 4k will be "faster" all day (on the same car)

It is also the brand and efficiency of the converter that will make the car fast. A 4k $200 converter will not work like a 3600ss yank.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...#ht_500wt_1182

would these heads be good up to my goals? i know it says good up to 450 but i figure i will be pushing a little more than that... and i dont know enough about air flow though the heads to know what port size is good or not.. if that even makes sense? like i said im kinda new to the heads area.

but maybe be able to compare to the trick flows are LE1/2? that would help he out

thanks guys!

Those heads would barley be better than stock. It looks like someone just touched them with a dremel so they could sell them as ported heads.

I talked to Lloyd about those and he laughed at them saying they were crap. They look nothing like my LE1'S.

i think you'll go a little over depending on what you find and deals you get.

if everything used

heads 1200
cam 200
lifters 100
pushrods 100
gaskets 200
tb 200
ebay long tubes or used 300
injectors 150
tune 400
new wires 100
RR 200
fuel pump 100
stuff you will break or stuff you will realize you'll need 250

probably closer to 3500 when all said and done.

Boy are you mistaken on a lot of things...take it from the guys who have been there-done that. If you want to do it right you're going to need a bit more of a budget.

Obviously you've never raced against (or raced IN) an LT1 car with a stalled auto before.
