Is it really just my car and its gears? Or my speedometer??
Hey guys, my formula is an auto and it has 3.42 rear gears installed. At highway speeds it seems like something is off. Now it's shifting into overdrive, but it doesnt lower the rpms much. When my speedometer says 60, I'm at a solid 2k rpms, at 70 it's like 2500 or so. I'm thinking that my speedometer is just needing calibrated. I think at 60 I'm probably really doing 70. Any advice guys? Btw, my car is a factory 2.73 gear car.

Alright thanks a lot man. Another couple questions for you. When my overdrive kicks in, it don't seem like it knocks the rpms down as much as other OD vehicles i've driven, could this be a result of the lower gears? Or would my PCM tune have something to do with it? I have a PCM for less tune, it came that way, im looking to change it.

Actually 2,000rpm at 60mph sounds about right for an A4 with 3.42's (in OD). My stock A4 3.23 car would run 2,000rpm at 65, about 2,150rpm at 70... sounds like your speedo may already be calibrated. The OD in the automatic cars isn't very tall.
I can do 85mph in my M6 3.42 car at just a tad over 2,000rpm
