Default Vacume sealed gasket BS!!! How bad is this?

Ok so I pulled my Mr. Gasket 5716G's out of the Vac sealed package and this is what happened. As I remove the top layer of plastic some of the coating comes off. I also removed the Felpro 1284 intake gaskets and a part of the silicone port seal comes off on the again vac sealed plastic. I didn't think much of the head gaskets untill It did it on the felpro intake gaskets so the head gaskets are already on with the heads torqued down. I knew I should have takin pics of the head gaskets and called them but I really wanted to get the intake on so I could see what needed to be fixed on it to keep it from leaking oil into the runners. What do you think? Am I Fubard yet again? will the intake gasket leak like that? What about those head gaskets? Here are pics of what I found.

This is the top plastic covering that was on the head gaskets. Mr Gasket only sells them individually now so both had the same problem.

Have you read the posts about putting them in the freezer before taking them out of the package? I know you shouldn't have to, but some say that is a solution.

No I never saw post about that before. Makes sense but GD this crap is getting old. I'm guessing it's a 50/50 shot on the head gaskets and more than likley I would end up with a leak on the intake gaskets?

+1 - That's what I was about to say as well. This was a known issue for a while with the headgaskets.

Don't take a chance on either set. Send them back as they should replace under warranty.

Well since they are on there I am fixing this MF intake before I tear it back down so I can at least get some freakin use out of these damn things.

So is there a different or better gasket option then the Mr. Gasket 5716G? I understand now that I may have to freeze the stupid things but is there one that I can actually just take out of the package and not have to worry about it being falty out of the package?

Well just got the replacement Mr.Gasket 5716 G's from summit to replace the defective pair that replaced the defective pair. Still with me? YUP..... guess what???? I put them in the freezer for 30 min and no luck. Did the same damn M/F'n thing. 2 M/F/G/D/F/P/O/M/F/S weeks of this BS. 2 WEEKS. over it. F**K MR.GASKET!!!
Oh wait....your condom would leak. Then you would have little defective gaskets running around. Mr. gasket FTMFL.

I don't run any of Mr. Gasket's products anymore. I had one of the header sets, I put them on before I installed my motor with the headers on it. Leaked horribly from day one. In my opinion they make tons of junk for a lot of cars, but that's about it.

Those are the worst head gaskets i have ever seen. Please dont waste your time installing those. Get the Felpro 1074 and use the copper seal for the heads, and buy a set of there intake set as well, its like 24 bucks. Take those back and re invest in something that will work not leak.

thanks man Yea this has been nothing but problems for years now. Hope you figure yours out as well. Passenger side hu? LOL thats the same one that was leaking on mine. If you find a leak on that stupid pipe that can't be welded from out side, just have someone with good tig skills cut the collector open and weld it that way. You will avert the 3 times I have had the weld crack because they tried to weld it up through the collector. It's just too much of a reach.

I'm having a problem here. These fel pro 1074's use a large bore opening at 4.125 and a compressed thickness of .039 V's the mr. gaskets it was set up with at 4.100 bore and a compressed thikness of .026. I have been over my numbers and one of the things that is killing me is the fact that the freakin pistons in this thing are forged -16cc. They are blower pistons. I know right a blower piston in a freakin cast crank rotating kit. Nice one eagle. Anyway I am N/A so I am going to drop from about 10.91 to 1 compression ratio down to 10.24 to 1 if I use those gaskets. Only other gaskets I found are the ones Gregrob posted up but I have no idea if I am just gonna have the same issues with those, and these at summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FOG-903334060/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCE-011063LT/
They have a strange note that I don't understand as well it says O-ring of the block or heads is required????? WTF is that?

Go with the Victor Reinz 5898; I am using them and had no problems. This is where I ordered mine from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Head-...Q5fAccessories

Cant go wrong with the fel pros.I would rather use the fel pros and have a piece of mind knowing that what I used was a quality part than worry about that little difference in compression. If you are that worried about it why not go for the impala gaskets then?

How long have you had them on your car? miles? months, years? Sorry I have to ask just because of all the problems I have been having. I had the Mr.gaskets on the car for a year but only 2 to 3k miles before they let loose.
