Hey everyone!! Im new to the LS1 family. I just bought a 98 vortech 350 out of a truck and want to put it in my 87 monte carlo ss. I also want to give it a lil more power before i put it in the car. My first question is will i have a difficult time getting this motor to run in my car? I have all the wire harness and computer that came the motor. Will it be a easy swap? And also, what can i do to this motor to give it a lil more power other that the exhaust? Im sure this question has been asked plenty of times. So if anyone could give me some advice or just send me to where this has been answered, it would be a big help. Thanks!!!

 

well that is a fairly simple swap its basically the same as an old school sbc i would go with a carb on that you will get the best bang for your buck just sayin iv done it in a 84 ss and it made an awsome car with a 700r4 and about a 3000 stall

 

Everyone seems to be swapping the G-bodies here lately..

BTW.. a 98 Vortec 350 is not a LS1.

G-bodies is the bad *** gm ever made. I miss my 85 monte carlo ss

 

As far as I know a 98 Vortec is not in the LSX family. It's a L31 5.7 they used in the trucks and in mid to late 99 it gets fuzzy and they shoved a couple 5.3 gen SBC's in the Old body style trucks. and then for 2000 modle year they made some old body style trucks with new body style trucks and had a mix matched orgy of 5.7' gen 1's and 5.3 gen 3's??? At least I have never seen a factory one. Maybe a conversion later on.
