Lt-4 Hotcam on stock tune question
Hey guys I had been hunting down my closed loop problem. Anyways I ended up swapping from my obd2 tuned computer to my stock tune obd1 with emissions deleted. Anyways the car now runs like a champ. So since the car is a 100 miles away at my parents house would it be ok to drive the car untuned for a while. I am going to get the car dyno tuned in the next few weeks. Do you think it will be ok on the stock tune say for 1000 miles?

When I did the HOT cam in '98, I ran the stock computer. It was fine for driving but mine set the light for misfire all the time. It also ran INCREDIBLY lean at WOT. It would buck like crazy even on the dyno, nice saw tooth curves. Since there was no tuning for OBDII back then, I went with a OBDI computer.
You should be fine with the stock computer in normal driving.

Hot Cam
I just tuned a 96 with the LT4 Hot cam kit and on the stock tune it was rich, Not super rich, 12.2 average so it wont hurt, but like said, Tuning is everything, after the dyno tune he gained 18 RWHP, Not a whole lot, but if you do a mod, tune it to get the max benefits out of it. Another car installed a cam in the 224 duration range and he gained 36 RWHP, even though on the stock tune it idled ok and he said it ran fine.

Sounds good. I know its not going be fast but its the first time the car has run right in 26 months so I am very happy. The car will be getting a 383 down the road. Maybe with a turbo.
