Default blame the all mighty fbody for this post....

I got my oil pan gasket figured out, i figured id reuse this thread since it has the pictures of my motor mounts in it.

My long tube header install is going nothing short of entertaining. The steering linkage needs literally like half an inch to clear the already dented header.

Im guessing the motor mounts have sagged or is the below picture normal for a drivers side motor mount to sit?

Basically im wondering if poly mounts will fix my issues...

have you ever heard of a crows foot? go to sears or look on line. if i remember correctly, from when i had the stock setup, i used a wrench on the bolt and socket on the nut.

Sweetbmxrider - will that work? im not saying it wont, but is that how it should be done?

I feel retarded that i cant beat this bolt and im getting so angry by it lol. Didnt want to make a post but it came down to "what do i do when i have no idea what to do".

With the nut loosened i tried to jack the motor to move it and got nothing, but if prying will work ill give it a shot, probably a 2 person job though, any suggested method or pry tool?

Jasonisdn - No no no, i can loosen the bolt and nut im not that ignorant lol, but the lip of the bolt wont slide past that other bolt head.

Don't forget to remove the oil level sensor, if it has one. On my car I unbolted the passenger's side mount from the block. Learned a bunch of new ways to curse it as you're finding out.

yea haha i yelled **** and chucked something lol, first time ive gotten angry with the car in awhile. i normally dont do that but man it just had me at wits end!

I have yet to unhook the oil level sensor, does that mean its broken since i dropped the pan a little bit already? i guess ill have to pull it out and look. So far ive done a cam swap, new timing set, reinstalled the opti, reinstalled the intake manifold and what not, and this oil pan gasket is the one thats making me look like a moron whatever, i hope they are cheap parts.

Parts stores have them in stock if you did happen to break it. I did mine when I pulled the motor out. I didn't even feel it break when I pulled the pan off.

Just remembered something else. When you get the pan down turn the crank to get the counter weights out of the way. It's hard to get the engine high enough to drop the pan enough to get it to clear the transmission. I was convinced it would not come out, but it will.

Well, i have oil on my face, my forehead, in my hair, some how on my tricep's, my hands wont be clean for a week....BUT THAT BITCH IS ON!!!!

god does it feel good to say that, had to make a post.

Now getting the motor mounts back in is gonna be the other half of the fun, the passenger side one is all messed up, and i finally got the other chunk of the AIR pump system out that goes under the pan to the pass side stock manifold. I was so sick of that thing!

TIME TO MOVE FORWARD!!!

The mount looks shitty but its a bad angle. You want to look at the rubber section, its probably dry-rotted to hell and barely supporting anything. You can also remove the 3 bolts at the bottom of the steering column, shift it slightly, and tighten back down.
