They operate in weird ways. I drove through a flooded road, no issue. Then we refilled the radiator and it accidentally overflowed, killed the opti flat out.

Yeah, I don't get why so many people report troubles with their opti at the first sign of moisture. I've driven mine in rain so hard people were turning on their flashers and pulling off the road. I had a 95 TA back when it was new and drove it in all kinds of weather. I've never had an issue. Then others will say they drove their car when the humidity level was above 70% and their opti takes a dump.

I have power washed my engine more times than I can remember, pulled my water pump 3 times and even came around a blind corner into a flooded road and never had a problem with the opti. It has 91k on it and is 100% original. 40K of those miles has had and accel then a mallory ignition box hooked up.

One time I went to see a movie and when I came out it had rained. My car didn't start until the third try. Usually no problem though. I have more problem with my Mazda MPV in the rain. It gets tons of misfires when it's wet out and it even has coil on plug ignition

One time, at bandcamp, I stuck a flute in my opti.

Humm.... I know that when I replaced my opti after 150k the new one came with specific instructions-> "Please take care and avoid all possible moisture exposure! This optical distributor will disintegrate when exposed to any amounts of water!! Do take CAUTION!!" So i decided to silicone the entire assembly. lol
