Well I'm getting my Trans rebuilt for the second time in 3 months. The pin broke in the servo so I'm having to change anyways so time for a upgrade.

Z/28's came with the Corvette servo. The Transgo kit came with the same one that was in my car.

Many people are too quick to jump on the billet bandwagon. The tranny in my car is over 7 years old with a Vette Servo, look at the signature.

Far as all V8s not necessarily true. The 4.3l L99 V8 that was the base engine in the Caprice did not always come with the Vette servo behind it. For those not familiar it was a 200hp destroked small bore version of the LT1 used in the Caprice sedan as the base engine 94-96. Of course GM reused that "name" as they do so many others. I would rather have a new L99 than the old one.

I agree that all Vettes and f cars All came with the same servo. If you want to upgrade to a better one that has 34% more holding then a billet servo is the way to go. Check out http://www.4l60-e.com/ they have great parts that i used in my tranny. I have had this tranny on 4 engines without any issues ever. Deeper pan and a tranny cooler will help out a ton for life and protection as well.

price is anywhere from 100 300 depending on brand ect, I would get a deeper pan that hold more and is aluminum. There are many choices i would stay away from chrome plated they leak very bad.

If you want to shift firmer, get a shift kit. (Transgo or otherwise)

thats a pic of a servo, When you add more pressure you get a firmer shift (less slippage) there are many different ones that have different apply pressure differences ect 18% 24 34 ect. more apply area the firmer the shifts.

This particular servo is used to apply the band to stop the drum for the 1-2 shift.

I am sure someone can explain it better in broader terms, but that is what this particular one does.

It should also be stated that the links 96transamboosted keeps referencing is a BAD place to buy a tranny from, maybe they sell some decent parts but they can not build a tranny well.
I would also question how long and how much power their parts have held up to.
I have a 7.5yo tranny from another vendor and when you look at my sig, you know I am hammering it with some power.
