Default Going to the LS side...for a bit...

Well, the waiting and saving for my, hopefully next car, a 2009 Mercedes C63 AMG, is agonizing. So I've been borrowing my dad's 2003 LPE 383 Corvette. Very nice, indeed. But it definitely could use a bit more ***. It went 11.50s at 120 a few years ago on streets while we were chasing a huge miss above 5800 rpm. Lingenfelter has since corrected the problem, which was a pinched wire in the harness that occurred during the motor install, but we haven't been back to the track. The car feels good and handles incredibly, but needs more cam and converter. LPE's package is 50 state emission legal and as such runs a weenie 207/220 .578" cam in their 383 package. That and a very street friendly Yank 2800 converter leaves a lot on the table. Anyway, I'm trying to talk pops into the LPE 215/230 GT-11 cam and a Vig 4400...Wish me luck...My heart still lies in this LT1 forum, but it'll be neat to see if I can get this 'vette to fly with nice street manners...I'll be back...

Well, its still the old man's car...the GT-11 215/231 .631/.644" aint too shabby...Its got huge area under the curve for power and has a nice idle. I can probably get him to bite on it...GMHTP did a big comparison with LS cams last year and it was right up there with the "big" ones, but still had good street manners...The other one I like is the GT1-1 which is 229/242 .631/.631" with a tighter lsa...Its got a nice choppy idle...but still aint too bad for a 75 year old to live with. Either way we installed a dual spring kit last year which will handle any cam we throw at it to .660" lift...

I went from a bolt-on LT1 to a stock LS1 and back to a stock LT1 (long story), but I truely miss the ls1.

Looks nice David! I'm workin on taking some pics of the damn thing. I'm trying to get him to just let me buy it at a "loving son" price, but I don't think he's playing that game yet.

Yeah, I drove the one I'm probably going to buy in Florida last month. It's badass no doubt. It does everything extremely well, and is pretty fast. He went 12.30s @ 116-117 with it completely stock, feathering it out of the hole. I'd love to throw on a set of DRs and see what happens. Definitely has the mph for high 11s. There's also a few companies out there with really nice, read very expensive, long tubes and ecm tuning. I've seen LTs and a tune get 80 rwhp! That would be very interesting...It probably wont be until next year though...It's still worth 40K and I'm only worth 25-30K
