Default First time at the track

Okay soo i lost the time slip but i wrote down some of the numbers....
This is a 96 z28, Magnaflow catback, k&N cold air, MSD Opti and plug wires, and i was told some sort of higher gears but not sure.

Track: No Problem Raceway, LA

1/4 Mile: 13.96 @ 100.32mph
and my 60' was 2.17.
It was about 84deg 100% humidity.

I had to roll off the line pretty easy if not i would blow my traction and was running a 2.32 60'

Any suggestions on next mods?

i dont really see anything odd about the times, right where they should be i think. get that 60' down a little. im gonna guess the higher gearing is 3.23 unless he put aftermarket ones in. but decent times

I would begin with traction and stability. Maybe start it off with sub-frame connectors and/or a aftermarket torque arm. It will pay off down the road when you add more go fast goodies.

^^^"Smoke Em"^^^^ Nice 10 Spokes, looks sick on the red LT1

Yeah i was thinking about working on traction. I couldnt WOT first gear and when it shifted into second it would fishtail pretty good.
I have the 5 spoke 16" crome wheels. Buying some after market 9.5 front and 10.5 rears will cost me about $1250 and i dont really have that kinda money to shell out.
Two of my tires are brand new right now..so im thinking about just putting some MT drag radials on the back of my stock rim....is that enough tire to help me hook along with some bold on suspension parts?

Nittos + stock suspension should be more than enough for you to hook. No need to go with a mickey that will wear out in 3-4k miles.

Yeah I agree on the Nittos. The busted tires that came on my car when I bought it was like driving on ice; I naturally couldn't hook to save my life. Once I bought my Nittos, the fish tailing business was old news. But to me that just means its time to park my stock DD and get to work lol. But for what your looking for, Nittos will do you right on the street aswell.

I think a good set of drag radials would be were to start. Hunt around I got a set of lightly used mickeys on rims for around $300 last year.

I found the times odd because i ran 13.90-13.60 and didnt go over 98mph. but i guess i had lower 60's then that.

What part of LA you in? That 100% humidity we have down here doesn't help anything.

Nittos work very well as street/strip tires, especially for a bolt on car.

BTW, you're a student in college and have a 96 z28 AND a 98 ws6? Sheesh, I could barely afford the pos 10 yr old cavalier I drove in college, lol

Hey guys I just got my Nitto NT 555r's in today and put them on the car.

Ill be going to the track this weekend to test them out and see if i can drop that 60'
How long should i burn them to warm up the tires??? And should i burn out in the water??

Also what are lca relo brackets and do you think they will help?

Sorry for newb questions!! But ill put up new times asap

LCA, lower control arm, you add relocation brackets to the the lca mounting points on the rear axle, this helps reduce wheelhop and will reduce your 60' times. I would run the nittos at around 20lbs air pressure to start, drive into the water area then clean the tires off and heat them up a bit with a good 1-2 sec burnout. I've never run an auto in the 1/4, sure others can advise on launch techniques. With an auto and the nittos you should easily get a 2.0 60' or less, lca relo brackets can help another 1-2/10's.
