I run the ls1 alum shaft. Its lighter rotational weight and imo every lil bit helps. The guys who break records and win races believe in the same philosophy. With that being said im bolt on only with a A4 and raceweight is 3350lbs. So it all depends on ur entire setup

My stock steel ds was replaced by the dealer for vibration problems in 98, they gave me an LS1 ds. I guess the 1le was the standard replacement ds for vibration issues up until the LS1 came out. I ended up selling the LS1 once I started racing it a long time ago, heard to many stories of guys breaking them on M6 cars, now have a 3.5" LPE aluminum ds.

How the hell do you break an aluminum DS ?? Aluminum is stronger than steel!! Not to mention it is thicker for added strength... I don't care either way since I am running a safetly loop.

Negative Ghost rider.
There are numerous threads showing the LS1 DS breaking and I have never seen a thread on the 1 LE DS breaking and the 1LE DS is even smaller in diameter.
The aluminum DS simply will provide and tiny unmeasurable performance gain. But when you start getting numerous tiny unmeasurable gains then eventually you will see something measurable on the time slips.
