You have zero way of knowing that.

What if he has (or has plans for) a Mcleod softlok slipper and a fully faceplated race built T56?

The difference in the 1/4 IF THE CAR IS SETUP PROPERLY FOR IT and if the driver can drive (which Aleks can) wouldn't be huge compared to an auto and a stall.

Problem is people never take the time to make a manual trans work, but they have a LOT of advantages.

If it was strictly a drag car, then hell yeah stalled auto all the way. I just get sick of people thinking you HAVE TO run a stalled auto to be fast. It's mostly the GM crowd and I just dont get it.

9 second mustangs and slower the norm is to have a stick... They're everywhere. But most people in the GM crowd think you have gotta have a stalled auto to run better than 12s

I can promise you that with 1000rwhp he will be quicker with an auto.

Lenco period. Choose your ratios and how many pulls. If it's good enough for a Pro Mod/ Alcohol Funny car, it should be fine behind a century mark LTx.

Looks like a nice build, either way auto or stick I'd drive the hell out of it.

Agreed...20yrs ago my pops ran a lenco 4spd behind a LPE 632 bbc(1985 tube chasis corvette). Ran 7.90's @ 172 first pass off the trailer na(1100whp). No way a stalled auto would of touched that car with the same power. 1.06 60ft

Although a stalled auto maybe be a better setup than the T56... but it's not the end all platform for a drag car!

Have you tried both in a 1000hp car?

Nope, but exactly how many 1000 rwhp stick cars have you driven? Hell, how many 600rwhp ones have you?

There's really no room to argue that fact - a car with that much power will be faster with a stalled auto then a manual, period.

I don't need to have owned one to know that - I've seen even modest hp cars swap to autos and run quicker...and the gap grows along with the power.

Its not a matter of not being a good driver. I haven't seen too many people row gears better then Taner, and even he has admitted that his car would run quicker with an auto.

I love stick cars - they are fun as hell to drive and are the only option for an autocross car, but at the track a stalled auto is the way to go...and let's be honest here, even if he turns the boost down every once in a while to go to a car show or weekend cruise, this is a track car.

There's not going to be such a huge difference between a jerico/liberty/lenco with an adjustable clutch and a t56 with an adjustable clutch, especially on a turbo car with a wider powerband as opposed to a 9000rpm NA motor that needs a 5 speed with close ratios to keep it above 8000rpm.

I fail to see how 8,000+ dollar clutchless pro stock transmissions somehow got into a coversation about LT1s . Of course a Liberty setup is superior to a 4"60e, its also three times as much and AFAIK has never been used on an LT car .

Calling them "manuals" is a bit of a stretch isn't it? More of a direct-drive MVB automatic. Might as well bring up dual clutched paddle shifted transmissions too...
