Default Radiator Cover

Does any body know where I can find a radiator cover besides the polished stainless one?

I would try and find one at a junkyard or on the forums. Remember the V6s radiator supports will fit also.

What kind are you looking for? They aren't too difficult to fab.

Yeah you can fabricate one yourself, or you can do what others have done; buy the stainless and have it powder coated to the color you want. Carbon Fiber look I'm not too sure about. I mean, it may not turn out the way you want; but you can buy the smooth stainless cover and try to cover it with the carbon fiber vinyl.

I did a quick search and found this, maybe that will help you.

Before you powdercoat it would you have to strip the stainless and if so how would you go about doing that?

Ummmm...a stainless cover is made of stainless steel - there is nothing to strip.

I haven't done it myself. I can sware that I have seen a couple members here with powder coated radiator covers. I will try and locate the threads to see if you can find any more information there.

But any good powder coater should be able to prep and coat everything for you; and yes, there will be nothing to strip on stainless.

I dont want to throw you a number and be way off; I believe that it will depend on the shop. The stainless covers are smooth so there shouldn't be much prep and labor involved.

Your best bet is to:

1) Do a google search and type in the words "powder coating" and your zip code. Find three shops and get some pricing on such items. If you can, do a little research on the shop and see if they are trusted in your community.

2) Do a search here on LS1Tech in your Regional Forum, i.e "Texas Members", "Florida Members," and see if there is a local sponsor shop that does powder coating. I'm not 100% on this, but if you post a thread looking for a powder coater in your area you may violate the "sponsor policy". So check on that.

Hope that helps.

Here is a image I found. I know its a LS1, but you get the idea.

If you have the "engine bay" blues you can check this thread out for detailing and some super sick and custom bays.

As far as powder coaters in Florida, you'll have to check our Regional Forum and do a search. Where in Florida are you?
