I put a Stage 4 in my 88 Formula 350 with a 97 T56 and it sure takes some getting used to, but I like it!

I took it to the track on a super hot day, and couldn't hook on my old drag radials. Clutch did its job though!

I have a 2.5 in my 383 Stroker right now. It is the exact same one that was in my buddies 350 LT1 that he sprayed, and it was in my 411 RWHP 357 for over a year, and now it is in my 383 that just put down 442 RWHP and 406 RWTQ and it has not slipped once! I will let you know how it does as I finish my tune and get some races in but it has held the power up to 6500 RPM's banging through the gears with no problems!

Love my stage 2.5. Been beating on it mercilessly for 5 months and no problems. But now I broke my T-56 lol.

So back to this thread, it sounds like the 2.5 is a great street clutch, or for guys who can dump the clutch at the track, but it hates being slipped. Im torn between the 2.5 and the 4 now.

Same here I called and emailed and they said they didn't make anything rated to hold 420+ rwhp/tq. They said their solid hub puck style would be the best they could suggest but that's gonna be hell on the street.

Let us know how it acts. What rear tires/gears and how much horsepower are you running? I need a little bit of slip on the line since I have so little horsepower, if it grabs like a silverback gorilla with no slip I cant use it.

I have a stage 3 sitting in my closet. I've been trying to gather other parts (torque are relocation, master/slave, driveshaft loop, etc) before installing it. Too many hobbies and projects and I lose focus way too easily. I'm hoping to get it in, with a bunch of other parts this spring/summer, depending on how finances look.

I have 185K on my stock clutch. I bought the car with 131K on it, and it needed a clutch, I've nursed it this far, I wonder if I can make 200K.

Sorry for the late response... The clutch doesn't like to slip at all... I will be home in February and i'll slip it a bit on launch and see how it does. DD wise, its a quick release/gas transition. It takes some getting used to.

When I was at the track, I was running some bald drag radials and dumping it at around 2200 rpm with 245/50r16 Nitto 555R's on a 3.27 rear gear ratio... Car has a 97 T56 in stalled behind a HCI 350.

Thanks for the update. What stage is yours again?
I always wanted to put a T56 in my 1989 Formula 350. Had everything to do it except for the crossmember. Unfortunately between a woman backing into it, leaky (because I should have put SFC's in there before ever beating on it) t-tops, and finally a tornado and large oak limb put an end to that car.

I have the Stage 4... Wish I had went with something a bit easier. I can't really launch it until I get a 9" for it. Being oversea's for the last year, with another year to go doesn't give my the time to get/install one.

I actually got the stage 3, and I love it! I also replaced the master and slave cylinder. The pedal pressure feels just like stock (i kinda wish it was harder) but the clutch will definitely grab awesomely. Its very easy to daily drive, but it will chatter if you don't give it enough gas, just takes a little getting used to

My stage 4 was great for bolt ons only on a used drag radial. As soon as a stepped up and got a 9in, full slicks and a 150 plate shot...well I'll let you be the judge (and no, thats not the tires spinning that you are hearing). In this video I launched off the 2step at 5500 on the 150 shot (no delay).

Stage 4 update... I put on some new Falken 275 street tires on the Formy and ran at the track.

I started doing 1st gear burnouts and had no issues slipping the clutch at the line. I was revving around 3400 and slipping.

Then I decided to do a 2nd gear burnout and the first one went well... then I started having issues with the tires winning the battle and ended up smoking the clutch a bit instead of the tires. I rolled up to the line and slipped the clutch like usual without issue, but I wasn't too happy it couldn't handle a 2nd gear burnout on street tires. As stated above, the clutch is fine if you are running a bolt on street tire car, but I don't think I would trust this one on new 275 drag radials...

For those curious, I was cutting 2.2's slipping the clutch on street tires. On bald 245 drag radials I was doing 2k launches dumping the clutch and cutting 2.2's... On the one good 2nd gear burnout I did cut a 2.19 on street tires. Car was running horribly and running open loop with too much fuel pressure, car was trapping 103.

Car is getting a 9" installed while I am deployed so I will be ditching this clutch.

I think in 4 hours I ran at least 16 passes. I guess it could be considered hot lapping.\

Clutch has about 4k miles and probably 35 passes or so...
